How To Link to Google and Facebook reviews

By: Steven Monson | Thu, Jun 27, 2019

Picture this.  You just finished a job for a customer.  They’re very happy, so you ask them to leave a review on Google or Facebook.

“Sure, you bet!” they say.

But then… they never get around to it.

Life happens.  They forget.  Or maybe they had trouble figuring out where to go, and gave up.

Services like the EZ-Reviews App can help with these problems (by sending a text message to customers with a direct link to your reviews).

But it’s important to make sure you use the correct links.  If you don’t, your link might not work an everyone’s computer of smartphone, and they’ll get an ugly error.

In this article, we’ll explain how to get the correct review URLs for Google and Facebook.

Getting The Correct Google Reviews Link

Linking to your Google reviews can be a little tricky (but it’s worth the effort).

First, you need to get your Google Places ID.

We’ve already written a popular article explaining how to get your Google Places ID.  If you don’t know what your Google Place ID is, go read that article and then come back.  I’ll wait.

Getting The Correct Facebook Reviews Link

At first glance, Facebook is a little more straight-forward.  Theoretically, you can go to your Facebook page, click the reviews tab, and copy the url from the address bar.

But this is only reliable if you have a Vanity URL.  Otherwise, people on iPhones (and possibly other deviced) will get the following error…

[Note:  When researching this problem I found a very helpful article titled My Facebook Link Doesn’t Work On iPhones. How Do I Fix It? and I wanted to give credit for explaining this issue in detail.  I will summarize below…]

Do I Have a Vanity URL?

It’s easy to tell if you have a vanity URL.  Go to your facebook page and look at the address bar.

Does your URL end with a bunch of numbers? If so, you don’t have a vanity URL.

Luckily making a vanity URL isn’t hard.  Here’s how to do it in 4 steps…

  1. Sign into your business Facebook page.
  2. Click the “About” tab.
